Playing Multiple Roles

McKenney’s installed mechanical systems and provided support for room control systems at a new hotel tower in Atlanta.

THE CHALLENGE

In addition to installing HVAC systems for a new high-rise hotel, McKenney’s had to coordinate the installation of an INNCOMTM guestroom automation system. However, before construction, the team first had to modify the original design to meet budget parameters. Heavy rains during building construction revealed site drainage issues, requiring additional structural work and jeopardizing the schedule.

THE SOLUTION

To safely and efficiently install mechanical systems, the team enlisted proven material handling and layout procedures, automated building layout technology and precise planning by foremen and the virtual construction team. When site drainage issues presented delays, manpower was reallocated to meet the compressed schedule. The McKenney’s team coordinated with the electrician to install, power up and test the guestroom automation system in every room.

THE RESULTS

By collaborating with the project team on design issues and navigating unforeseen delays, McKenney’s kept the project on track and on budget.
