Innovation, Coordination at Boutique Hotel

McKenney’s installed vertical fan coil units throughout the 19-story, 232-room boutique hotel, located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

THE CHALLENGE

Details matter when creating a comfortable home-away-from-home atmosphere. When the upscale, uptown boutique hotel demanded a specific vertical fan coil unit, McKenney’s was tasked with installing one in every guest room quickly and accurately while adhering to fire and building codes.

THE SOLUTION

To keep the fan coil units in pristine condition, McKenney’s used a proprietary tool to set each fan coil unit in place—even in areas with tight ceiling clearance—with minimal handling or assembly. The team placed water valves at the bottom of all pipe risers for easier access and devised a plan for installing back-to-back vertical units without compromising fire-rating codes between adjoining rooms. McKenney’s partnered with a third-party inspector to label the units in the field and expedite final inspection.

THE RESULTS

The new vertical fan coil units were installed on schedule allowing the hotel to open for business on schedule.
