Charlotte Douglas International Airport CEP

McKenney’s played a key role in the construction of a new Central Energy Plant (CEP) at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, designed to support the airport’s growing infrastructure demands. The facility houses (4) 2,000-ton water-cooled chillers and (4) 1.9 million BTU/hour natural gas-fired boilers, forming the backbone of a highly efficient and reliable heating and cooling system. To ensure long-term scalability, the plant was engineered with the future in mind, it includes the capacity to expand the chilled water system by incorporating (4) additional 2,000-ton water-cooled chillers. This modular design approach ensures the airport can accommodate increased passenger volume, terminal expansions, and additional operational needs in the years to come.
