Soaring Past Obstacles

McKenney’s provided design/assist services and installed a condenser water cooling system and controls at MSC’s new corporate headquarters in North Carolina.

THE CHALLENGE

The McKenney’s team had to maintain a tight budget and meet an aggressive five-month installation schedule including the entire upfit in the new commercial office building—before precast panels blocked the team. The job was won based on the design/assist experience of the McKenney’s team which also had to prove it could seamlessly execute the installation.

THE SOLUTION

To stay on track and within budget, McKenney’s expedited approval of shop drawings to ensure everything was coordinated ahead of precast panel installation. In lieu of a buck hoist, a unique “trailer flying” approach was used to efficiently lift materials, pipe, duct prefab and equipment to each elevated slab during the rough-in phases. McKenney’s also fabricated all the sheet metal and used grooved piping to speed up pipe installation

THE RESULTS

McKenney’s used its design/assist knowledge and unique installation capabilities to fast track the job and allowed MSC to move in on schedule.
