The Carver Family YMCA is a 56,000-square-foot building with an indoor swimming pool, locker rooms, offices, a wellness center, a gymnasium, and youth program spaces. During construction, the project came to a halt when the grey-water system designed for the facility could not make it through the permit process. McKenney’s Engineering Solutions team stepped in to assist, turning the grey-water system into a rainwater-harvesting system. This modification not only enabled the build to obtain a permit, but also reduced overall project construction and is estimated to save 530,000 gallons of water annually.
The project was complete in January 2007, and is LEED-certified.
